just wondering is anyone can help, i've noticed recently that skin is now like leather,
very dry and flaky. i use aloe vera cream every day but to no avail, is it the meds or
just another side product of ra?
any tips would be gratefully received.

arhh just been writing about dry skin .

Number one the posh stuff does not work .
the dryer the skin the greasyer the oiment you need .

number 2 you cant do posh with dry skin .
make up and cleansers will dry it futher and also the air sun wind .

sometimes stuff like e.45 double base dipo base are too thin
if they dont work

you need an emisfifying oniment the loveley lard and i have to put it on my face and wash my face with it .
i use Hydomil ( spelt wrong ) And need to put in on hourley if i am dry

you could self refure your self to a dermalotigy nurse linked with your docs out in comoatity .They have more time and can go though creams .

Yes I suffer from dry skin. My doc has given me a shower gel to use
and also doublebase cream to use.

Good luck

yesterday i went to a double appoment with the dermogolist and the rhumeogist .
Skin very dry .

i have roseasa and ance roseasea and seborrhoeic dermatitis which is common with p.a ( not the roseasa )concected with the athritis .
i have r.a and overlap scleroderma which why i have double appoments sometimes all i say very mild you would not know i have R.A and Slc .
once thought i had P.A .( last double appoment for now )

Anyway the dry skin .And skin changes .this is what Dr Dootson said to me ( she is the top one and very good )
Always wash with Hydromol or emlusilfing oitment wet your fingers and rub in .( i have been doing it for years ) wash off .I also do my body like this in shower watch blocking the drains ( i do it when swimming in there showers he he bad girl and they have big drains ) at home in a bowl and chuck it down loo .

then re apply dryer the skin then then its grease and re apply during the day infact with me it soaks in .
sometimes i use e.45 then when thats in hydromol on top .

i joked with her that i only do posh .And she said waste of money for your skin .It makes it dryer to be honset .
today for a change have soft skin on face .But the rash is on my hands which need intense rubbing with hydromol and ebows ( i had left it too brew so Dr Dootson could see it ha ha ) i got told off .

sometimes they increase MTX if skin is involed but i now on half the dose cos of my liver .I had a bo sopsy in March but no need to increse now liver is playing up so on low dose .

today a soft face first time in ages with no reddness or spots .But yesterday i was flakeing as it changes day to day .But i must not stop the rotine

There should be a comatity dermotgiy nurse which you can self refure to a chemist will know the number they have more time and can try creams and oitments
and check you each week till something suits christine
